What’s this Renttitude thing all about?

Renttitude is an innovative dynamic P2P renting platform established in 2017 by (S A M Portal LLC) to build a trustable and transparent environment to encourage collaborative consumption and environmental conservation. Here’s some of the benefits:

  • Make some extra cash - Who doesn’t like making some extra cash from lending out stuff that you rarely use or items sitting in your storage collecting dust, you can make steady income on a lot of things and that adds up annually.
  • Save money - Why bother buying something costing thousands when you are only going to use it once, save your money and borrow it rather than buying it.
  • Try it before you buy it - compare different models and try things before you buy it, for example when you are confused which camera to buy, you can now try it before you make a decision.
  • Meet Awesome people - Our members have met some lovely people through sharing and some have even had a cup of tea together! Step up and meet new people, people are genuinely good.
  • Go Green - By re-using what we already own removes the purchase of new items and in turn avoids the production and transportation of new items. As a result you are reducing tons of Co2 through sharing.
  • Support a local group through sharing - We have some great partners and you can direct all or part of your lend income to help with their great causes.
  • Avoid storage issues - You may not have the storage space required to store an item, fear not there is someone close to you that can lend you their item so you don’t need to store anything.

How do I create an account?

Is it essential to verify my profile?

Yes to keep our community secure, its essential to verify your Email address, Mobile number and your ID Proof to be able to List or Borrow any item.
To verify your;

  • Email, you will receive the verification link on your email upon your sign up.
  • Mobile number, you need to open MY ACCOUNT menu from your main panel then click on the verify tap next to your Mobile number and then you will receive SMS with your Verification OTP.
  • ID, please upload your ID photo from the same menu and don’t forget to upload your back ID as well, also you need to upload another picture of you holding your ID to make sure the ID is yours and not stolen.

What do you do with my details?

We do not disclose your address on the site.  When somebody wants to borrow an item from you we will pass on your contact details, item map location but not your address, you can give this when you organise the exchange, you can also check our privacy policy.

Who deals with the money?

We do, Payments made through the Renttitude Service are processed by Paypal & Payfort. You can read their full terms and conditions here, the lender get his money only after the item is delivered, your money is safe.

What are the costs?

Creating account or listing items is FREE, however we take a small fee when transaction happen between a Borrower and Lender for the rental of an item:

  • as a borrower:
    • you agree to pay the lend fee set by the owner multiplied by the number of days
    • Renttitude’s service fee of 10% of the Rental Fee
    • Insurance Policy: 5% is collected against insurance policy.
    • Delivery fee – This is only payable if the lender offers delivery at extra charge.
  • as a lender:
    • you agree to pay to Renttitude a service fee of 10% of the total Rental Fee
    • Insurance Policy: 5% is collected against insurance policy.

All the above are listed clearly at checkout before final payment is taken.

Do I have to add Listing?

You don’t have to but why not as you can earn some extra cash and more importantly if we were all borrowing we would have nothing on the site.

For Lenders
Why should I lend my stuff?

Aside from earning and saving money, it’s a wonderful thing to do as you get to meet great people and preserve the planet.

Photo’s (for the item)

We recommend using either jpeg, tif or png files, you can list without photo, but it is not recommended if you want to attract others to see it, also for the insurance purpose you will need to take a photo of the item anyway before handing it over to anyone.

What items should I list on Renttitude?

Anything that you own that works and that you are happy to rent out. Check our categories to get inspired, Don’t forget we only deal with the stuff found at home. Other people deal with other items like cars and homes. If you are interested in exploring other sharing businesses then drop us a line and we would be happy to put you in touch with them, we like sharing too!

I cannot find the right category for my item

We like to add new categories when items are added. Simply list the item under “Miscellaneous”. We regularly review the site and we will create a new category for you.

How can I edit or delete an item that I have posted?

Login to your account, then click on the top right of the screen “My Listings” you will see the items you have listed. Alongside your items you will see the option to edit or delete.

How the pick up or delivery happens?

As a lender you have three options when you list an item.

  • Choose to handover the item directly to the borrower.
  • Choose to handover the item directly to the borrower at extra delivery fee that you decide.
  • Choose to have the item collected by the borrower.

What if I need to use my own item?

Of course you can, after all it is your stuff, this is how to pause one item on our system:

  • Go to your account dash board by clicking your name.
  • Find the item you want to pause from MY LISTINGS
  • Click on the Active to mark as inactive.
  • Enter the Start date and the number of days and your done.

How to pause all of your items for a set period of time:

2 ways you can do that

  • Go to My account at the bottom you will find HOLIDAY MOOD, untick the ACCOUNT LIVE, and your account will be invisible and all your listings till you activate it again.
  • Go to MY CALENDAR in the dashboard, select the listings you want to pause and then mark all the dates you wish to block, confirm your selection and you are done.

Do you take security deposit?

No, all rentals are paid upfront and everything is insured on the site, please refer to the insurance section

What if someone damages or doesn’t return my item?

WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED, We work hard to keep the Renttitude community a safe place to lend, we have very strict verification process, However, if for any reason your item is lost, stolen or damaged we have got you covered. When you lend on Renttitude every item is covered by our insurance up to AED 15,000 and our customer support are always on call if you need any instant advice.

When do I get paid?

You will receive the money into your wallet for the rental approximately 3 working days after the rental is scheduled to begin, then you are free to withdraw it to your bank account as per the withdrawal requirements.

For Borrowers
How do I search for an item?

From the home page you can search by keyword, location and Category, you can also browse listing, check the listing near you on the interactive map

What if I cannot find what I am looking for?

Sorry about that. As a new company we don’t have everything on there yet! Over time we are sure it will appear. But we can help if you send an email to the team at Renttitude at info@renttitude.com and we shall email other users of your requirements in our regular newsletter and hopefully find it for you.

How do I collect my rented item?

The lender has three options when they list an item.

  • Choose to handover the item directly to the borrower.
  • Choose to handover the item directly to the borrower at extra delivery fee.
  • Choose to have the item collected by the borrower.

Please check with the lender by messaging him and agreeing on the delivery terms.

Can I request a special price from the Lender?

Yes you can, once lender approves, he can send you a special offer with the new price, then you can accept and make the payment. Please don’t forget to accept the Lender’s amendment after proper review to the rest of condition such as dates.

What if I want to extend a rental period?

First you need to check with the lender if he is ok with it, if yes, then you may place a new rental request for the additional days.

Can I change the dates of my rental?

Yes! First though you'll need to check with the lender of the item that changing the dates of the rental is OK with them.

Scenario 1- in case the rent is requested but not yet approved nor declined by lender

Then you can easily amend your date from “MY rental” menu then “Borrowing” choose your Rent request and click on the “amend “button , define your new proposed dates and then submit your amendments to the Lender. Now wait till the Lender approves your amendment request.

Scenario 2- The renting request is already approved by Lender

If the lender is happy with the change then get in contact with us, either by emailing info@renttitude.com, and we'll be able to make that change for you.

Insurance Questions
Are You Eligible?

To be eligible you must be able to answer the following statements truthfully:

  • I have not been convicted of, or charged with, any offence other than motoring offences in the past 5 years.
  • I have never had insurance cancelled, refused or declined or had any special terms imposed.
  • I have not made more than 2 insurance claims in the past 2 years.
  • My overall account reviews are above 2

  • Take photos or a video of your item before it goes out on rent. These need to be times tamped so we recommend taking them on a smartphone or digital camera where timestamps are automatically encrypted.
  • If your item has a core function you need a video of this working. Eg. if it’s a drone - a video of it flying. Or if it’s a mixer - a video of it in action where we can hear the sound. This way if there is no external damage but it stops working you can prove it was working immediately prior to the rental.
  • If your item is returned damaged you must notify us within 24 hours of the end date of the rental.

What is covered / not covered?

The insurance is designed to cover all the stuff you own, and almost everything is covered. There are a few exclusions however, see the list below:

  • Cars, motorcycles, scooters and any vehicle which you need a license to drive.
  • Real estate (eg. Houses, warehouse, parking lot or land)
  • Chemicals, liquids or any consumables
  • Weapons
  • Any item with value is more than AED 15,000

What value of items is covered?

Each item you rent is covered up to it's full value new provided that is below AED 15,000.

If your item is worth more than that just let us know and we can usually add your item to the insurance once we've gathered the details.

What is the claims process?

It's important to us that you feel comfortable and safe lending out your stuff on Renttitude so we do everything we can to protect you against any problems, and make this process as efficient and stress free as possible. If you need to claim please complete the below steps:

  • Report the issue to Renttitude within 24 hours of the end date of the rental, you can do that by filling up the form in the Dispute Centre.
  • Contact the borrower and see if you can resolve the issue amongst yourselves. Borrowers are liable for any damage they cause so it's often cheaper and quicker for them to just pay for the repair or replacement with you directly.
  • If a resolution cannot be reached between you, or if you would prefer not to communicate with the borrower, just let us know and we can step in. We will ask you to provide photos or a video of the item before it went on rent in working order, and once you've received it back showing the damage.
  • If the borrower denies causing any damage and it is unclear if the damage was their fault or not, then we may ask you to get the damage confirmed or diagnosed by a reputable third-party repairer. Either way, as soon as we have established the damage was the borrowers fault (as opposed to a technical malfunction or older damage) then we will pay for it straight away.
  • If the item is irreparable we will get a replacement to you ASAP.

Do you cover public liability?

No, our insurance does not cover public liability, nor covers any injury or damage that might happen to any person or their property as a repercussion of your item malfunctioning. We do not cover any costs that this malfunction may incur; including but not limited to legal costs, medical bills, loss of earnings of others, replacement or repair of damaged property.

Am I insured as a borrower?

No, the insurance is only for the lenders. You are welcome to take out your own insurance as a borrower though another insurance company.

As a borrower you are fully liable for any damage you cause to the item. This means it is your responsibility to have the funds available to replace the item if the worst case scenario happens and you entirely destroy, or lose the item. You will also need to pay for any damage you cause so make sure you have the funds available just in case.

The borrower is fully responsible for an item while in their possession. So if it gets stolen, broken, lost or confiscated during this time, they will have to bare the cost of rectifying the problem.
